Emmigration. Farming. The work of Christ in a man & his family. The Great Commission. True Religion. This could well be the ideal movie.
Last night we watched a movie called “Faith like Potatoes” .
I had heard of it, but thought it would be typical, cheesy evangelical fare. However, when my daughter, Emily, told that Peter Hammond of Frontline Fellowship had written a good review of it, I got interested.
Then, when I heard it was a true story about a farmer of Scottish decent, who :
** with his family flees civil war & Marxism in Zambia to protect his family;
** moves to a patch of never farmed brush land, with nothing but a tractor & some misc. farm supplies, and a small travel trailer to live in;
** through sheer determination & hard work turns it into a productive commercial farm;
** has such a temper that his Zulu workers call him “the mad Italian”
** then is miraculously converted & becomes a traveling evangelist and farmer
** then becomes a political/ social activist
** then opens a home/ Christian school for AIDS orphans on his farm
I had to see it.
I was not disappointed. I, again, highly recommend this film.
